Specialist Education Workshops
Over the past fifteen years we have worked with a number of organisations and experienced many different groups of learners. They include young people at risk, disabled people, children in care and those excluded from full-time education.
We feel our workshops are of benefit to learners for the following reasons:
By way of example, here is some more information on two of our previous projects.
We devised a series of workshops for learners with the Anjali Dance Company. They run education and outreach programmes that develop the skills of people with learning disabilities. The learners managed to take on the new skills and employed them well in a performance called Save the Last Dance. You can view it below.
We feel our workshops are of benefit to learners for the following reasons:
- It provides learners a solid foundation to progress onto further education. This is because classes use the structure of making, performing and responding which will prove invaluable to the participants in other areas of education or employment.
- OFSTED note the valuable contribution of performing arts. Comments from one our clients report’s include “Students are confident and enthusiastic which often refers to their involvement in performing arts presentations”.
- Classes are proven to raise the self-esteem of those taking part and learners thrive on the tasks we set out. This includes accents, character movement, games, acting for camera and role play. Many of our exercises were developed during Peter’s time performing in the West End and he has now refined them for students
- Our work is unique because no other drama specialist helps learners to develop a “working character” to use in challenging situations.
By way of example, here is some more information on two of our previous projects.

We delivered a specialist acting workshop for young people housed in a Secure Unit in Northamptonshire. This two week project allowed the learners to act and devise their own piece of theatre which they performed to staff and carers at the end of the project. This was so successful that they asked us to continue teaching on a weekly basis until the closure of the centre a year later.
