|
The Principal of Galli Galli, Pete Lewis has over twenty years performance experience, from fringe venues such as the Kings Head Theatre to leading West End locations like The Royal Opera House and The Criterion. He has written and directed two professional productions and taught for numerous organisations ranging from Primary Schools to University's.
He says “I believe we all perform as part of our daily lives, and Galli Galli gives people an opportunity to build on those skills. It has to be fun, which is the best way for many people learn. Galli Galli will create an ideal environment for mature people to explore theatre, movement and singing in a caring and professional atmosphere.” He continues “People can go from being shy and inhibited individuals to becoming confident and more articulate incredibly quickly. We feel sure that local people will enjoy the challenge of exploring performance whilst taking on something new and exciting.” | Galli Galli feel passionately that mature people have much to offer but are not catered for in this 4-18 world. We’ve found the older age group has a wealth of life experience to exploit and the theatre is a perfect place to turn this into creativity.
Diversity is paramount in our ethos, and no one should be discouraged on the grounds of age, ethnicity or background, but the 18+ age group is being specifically targeted for classes. Whatever the day job, whether they need to improve their confidence, enjoy performing, are unemployed, retired or even thinking of changing their career path. Student’s reasons for applying vary but the desire to learn new skills and enjoy performance draws them together. The founders also recognise the importance of those essential skills that we all need in the workplace. Joining Galli Galli will help participants to enhance their CV and become a more effective communicator. Performance training will improve interpersonal skills, confidence building, assertiveness, teamwork and presentation skills which are all so important in this post-recession world. |
